Integrating Climate and Nutrition: An Essential Action for Zero Hunger
Wednesday, 25 October; 8.30 – 9.45 (UTC+2)
- Or join in person: Green Room (Building A on the first floor)
·¬ÇÑÉçÇø the event
Climate change and malnutrition are two of the greatest challenges facing humanity today and are intrinsically intertwined. Through the strategic integration of these priorities, a comprehensive solution can be provided to concurrently address two major obstacles to sustainable development. The CFS Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition () provide a systemic, multi-sectoral science and evidence-based approach to implementing interventions to deliver healthy diets and positively impact all three dimensions of sustainable development. However, the persistent divide between the climate and nutrition communities leads to fragmentation in policy and action implementation. Ìý ÌýÌý
This side event will present and launch two reports highlighting the latest developments in the evidence base. Followed by a panel discussion and open forum discussion led by the GAFSP, to showcase examples of integrated climate-nutrition actions and strategies implemented across diverse projects driven by recipient countries, and by forest and farmers producer organizations in response to climate and nutrition challenges. This forum will also provide a platform for discussing the need of financial resources to support these strategies. The outcomes of the event will contribute to removing financial barriers for integrated action and contributing to shaping the roadmap to COP28.
